ok i was just wondering if anyone could help me.
i had an email address that was 'broken into' by my girlfriends brother.
hes changed my password & secret question so i cant recover/reset the password..... plus he keeps logging in to the account so the 5 days idle thing will never work either because the accounts constantly active.
is there any way i can get gmail to delete the account or restore access to me, or is there any other way i can recover my email address (i asked the kid to reset the password etc and he wont).
im pretty sure this is hopeless but i just thought id ask anyway. thanks.

The password may have been changed but I verified with danowoz because I don't have a gmail account and the secret question can not be changed. So if you can't remember the answer to your secret question then you may just need to give them a call, explain the situation, and hope they give you access back to 'your' account.

There is no way to get it back, unless you call up the guy who did it and ask for it back.

Gmail will not give you access back to it just because you SAY it's your account.

Your outta luck kid, but you can try to guess the secret thing he put on.

I have brilliant idea, walk up to that asshole, and say 'Hey if you don't give me my fucking account back I'll sodomise you with a fucking spring-loaded speculum, and if you think thats kinky wait'll you meet the Penetrator.' followed by 'Do you know what a spider-gag is?'

That should do the trick.  :flamed: :eat:

PS. It's more effective if you actually follow through, its not rape if they can't say no.

I bet if you break up with your girlfriend he might let you have it back. What's more important Love and Happiness or a 2810.424986 mb "and counting" email account?

give aids to his sis.
ok dont.

just try all possible combinations for the secret question, i mean, hes your gf's brother? Ask her what kind of shit he thinks or might think about! SE your password back!
Also, you think he might have keylogged you when you were at his place using his pc or something?
Furthermore, Gmail will store the info if you chose to, like well, any other mail service. But, i was able to retrieve a password from IE with a simple program that lay around the internets.
If you think you can have access to the PC he uses to login to your account, then post and ill try to find that tool for you again... or if anyone else knows what im talkign about, it basically shows all the passwords stored in IE, looks like the regedit window too, yellow colors all over the place...
i know, i suck at explaining what a program does, i have visual memory <_>

either way, good luck.

throw a Remote Access Trojan on his box, sniff your password back then call in an anonymous tip that he is trafficking Kiddy Porn, throw some pics on there (bonus points if they are of you, so you are considered missing and exploited =] ) and uninstall the RAT.

or put a gun to his head

If you can gain physical access to your girlfriend's brother's computer, then there you go. Or get access to the pipe he uses, packet sniff, and when gmail verifies the password, you snag it and change the password. Then beat the kid senseless for being an ass.

I'm not a moderator here, but I'm not tolerant of flaming. Don't insult people, especially in Nubie HQ. This is a safe place for Newbies to ask questions. If you don't have productive things to say, and you obviously don't, then don't say anything. Kyle had a good question, one that's actually been bugging me about AIM, as well.

Kyle: when I worked in IT security, I dealt with a lot of gray areas like this. One time, there was a site hosted on one of the free hosting sites, the name of which is irrelevant, and they claimed to be authorized to represent what was actually a federally licensed radio station. While you can't be certain that the abuse@domain.com admins will be on the ball, it's always worth a shot. My suggestion to you is to email the security guys at gmail, explain your predicament, give them something that your girlfriend's brother wouldn't know. Anything to prove that you're the one who created the account. It's worth a shot. In the case of the misrepresented website, it was nailed that day, and all they had was my word and contact information at my office.

Also, you could consider pwning the account yourself. Since this guy is misrepresenting you, and that can do some damage, your first priority should be damage control. Due to the prevalance of zombied computers and email accounts, you can raise the attention of the security and spam watchers at google. They will probably monitor the account for suspicious activity, log the IPs and you've now got one of the biggest names in internet pioneering on your side. If you bring out the big guns against your own account, this will catch the brother by surprise. Look up "scorched earth policy" for details on why this is effective. Salt your own earth. I know it's a little counterintuitive, but sometimes, and especially in hacking, it's all about thinking outside the box. Good luck, and I hope this works for you. If you need any additional help, I'll be watching my PMs.

Don't be discouraged by others that like to make fun of your misfortune. This is a community of friendly exchange. I apologize on behalf of the other HACKERS who welcome you aboard.

You may also want to look at possible easier targets than gmail. Many "novices" use the same password for multiple things. For instance, if you can get his Windows password file, maybe you could brute force it. Of course, if you could gain such info, it'd probably just be easier (as others have said) to install a keylogger.

If you can't get access to his computer, think of where else he might access something like gmail, myspace, or anything else requiring a password from and put a keylogger there.
