I think there's a law against masking or obscuring the origin of an electronic communication. That would probably fall under that, but I really don't know, I'm only going on what other people have told me.

BTW, this should probably go in the phreaking section.

I have be looking for a good SIP that lets you spoof your number.

i dont see how the act of spoofong alone would be illegal, its probably the reason youre spoofing that will get you in trouble. just spoofing your friends or family and pretending to be someone else is harmless. but if youre calling in bomb threats or something thats a whole nother stoy.

I don't know if it would work with your telephone company, but *67 would make you appear as private caller on the caller id. That really isn't illegal if you don't screw it up.

It's not illegal to spoof your Caller ID in the United States. However, what you do with the spoofed number you choose may be illegal i.e. it would be illegal to set your Caller ID to that of a police stations and call someone up and pretend to be a police officer, since it's illegal to pretend your a cop.

Also, Decoders smart as fuck. Just because he went to jail for something unrelated to Caller ID, you think he's stupid or that it's stupid to listen to him? You must be the dickhead then.
