HELP Administrator account deleted, need help loggin in to my laptop!!! WIN XP PRO Service Pack 2?
My friend was using my laptop and she says she has no idea what she did but she somehow deleted my account (the only account) so now i can only login as a guest andI have no access to my music pictures. programs, homework nothing, and I have a Toshiba Portege' laptop, it has no floppy disk or cd drive no internet connection, so i have no idea how to fix this, I tried the ctrl+alt+del trick but it will not work the default admin, has a password and i have no idea what it is, I got this laptop used out of a classified ad, and have no way of contacting the person who sold it to me, Someone has to be able to help me please, I am pretty good with command prompt and regedit but since i can only logon as "GUEST" nothing will work, almost everything i try says access denied ERROR 5. please please help.

I have tried safe mode, i have tried command prompts, and regedit but the guest account is not allowed to do anything i keep getting an access denied message, the laptop does NOT HAVE A DISK DRIVE so i am screwed there, the computer did have 2 admin accounts mine and the default "hidden" one, mine got deleted and did not have a password enabled, and i do not know the password for the default one this is xp PRO so it doesnot work if you try to logon with no password, whoever installed the os had to make a password during setup. if anyone knows some way they can really help me,

What i need is some way to either make a new administrator account, or reset the old password, is there any way to escalate the guest privileges to administrator privileges?

AND AGAIN MY LAPTOP does NOT have a floppy disk or cd drive, and no connection to the internet so i can not download anything. I have googled for hours and hours and hours and i have found nothing that will help me, i hope someone here can help i would really appreciate it

You look like you are screwed.

And besides, why even care about a laptop that has no CD drive or Floppy Drive? Either buy the drives and get it fixed or just dump it.

1.) Never save important stuff on the same partition as the OS
2.) Never let anyone else use your stuff.

I've got an external HDD case..what I would do if I were in your situation is remove the harddrive and switch it with my external one and connect it to a different computer and get my stuff off and then format it and start over...I'm not sure it that would actually work.
If you know anything about linux, you could find a distro that boots from a usb flash drive and get it that way.

If its one of those really compact ones...they're nice for wardriving in shopping centres etc
If its one of those old giant ones...they make good paper weights.

No, he probably doesn't have a USB drive either.

You are just giving us more and more excuses that just show us that either a) your laptop sucks or you dont really own the laptop.

at command is only available for admins in SP2 i thought i read somewhere.

"well" I HAD internet (dial-up) and i downloaded the stuff, but now that my friend messed things up i can't even open network connections, aol and limewire are not even showing up on the desktop anymore.

Did you try without the password or anything like that...Or it that account completely gone from the login screen?

yes i can access command prompt but when i try the at command it says access denied, when i do it in safe mode it says that the service has not been started but when i try to start the schedualer it says i need to logon as admin

You could always transfer it over infrared if you get really desperate.

i do not know anybody who has a router, and i have a desktop pc, which i am on right now but it does not have infared, and the only usb cord i have hooks up to my cell phone its a mini usb, and i think i have an ethernet cord somewhere buti really doubt any of those are going to help me at all.

The ethernet won't help unless its a crossed cable..which I highly doubt

If you can't save anything because you don't have a way to save it to media, just email yourself the SAM file or use an online file hosting service.

so u have no other laptop or computer of any kind? cos u could remotely start it....and take what u need? but i have to say this all sounds very odd... who owns a canabilised laptop with almost no acces to anything and actually use it to do "homework"??

you can get an IR adapter from and store for like 15 bucks.
