Hey everyone. I'm tring to get DNS running on my server. I'm tired of using sub-domains through dyndns.
My server is running Mandrake linux 9.0
I've got BIND on it.
I can set up records, but what the hell else do i have to do? If anyone has any experience with DNS let me know. I'd really like to get this working.
any help would be great.
Even if you could point me to a good tutorial that would be great.
I can't seem to find any tutorial that says, "Ok this is how you do this".

Well for my DNS im using Zone edit - http://www.zoneedit.com/
they are free for upto 5 domains (with unlimited sub domains)
I have my DNS there as they provide a reliable service, so that if my server goes down, their DNS would still be up to re-direct visitors to a backup site/mail server.
You might be able to find some info on doing it yourself at the following URL's
http://www.ultradns.com/secondary/
http://support.dyndn.../statdns/howto/
http://www.diywebserver.com/
(does bind not come with documentation etc?)

The October 2002 issue of Linux Format came with a mini-magazine called LinuxPro. Inside that there is a BIND 9 tutorial. If you can't find one, I'll be glad to mail it to you.
