Alright I was reading some stuff and it was talking about SS7 and 4ESS, bassicly what I got from the jist of it is that SS7 is a protocol by which to communicate and *ESS are switches (this I knew), am I correct on the SS7 part?

SS7 is a protocol by which to communicate there's no answer, it's just a "language", way to talk, its' not SS7 that you phreak it's the switches/etc. (I hope, I'm not god on SS7/phreaking so someone back me up on this :))
