Now, there are "black boxes" bolted to the wall at about the 9ft level. These boxes are about the size of a desktop computer case and contain a single red led light in the center of what would be the front of the case (points down). The back of the case I couldn't see anything (not quite the 9ft level) But I can see a myriad of coax and cat 5 cables running to the back of it from the wall and connecting to the tv.
This service is called Get Well TV and is run by Sandiego based Skylight Systems. While I was there I checked out the menus and such.
I've come to find out that the entire menu is a web interface. If you select tv from the remote control, you are directed to a url https://www.getwelltv.com:444/tv.asp It takes a few seconds to load the tv stream, but once you are there, it's about the same as a cable service only with a slight lag while channel surfing.
If you leave the tv stream, it directs you to https://www.getwellt...start_frame.asp.
From the start menu you can select internet/e-mail (for thier sake internet = www) Games - no idea what kind of games, and basic tv (free) cable tv(pay per use) and health education which broadcasts specific instructions for your particular ailments and post hospital home treatment. As you may have guessed, most of the stuff there is a pay per use premium and minimum is $4.95 per day.
I'm mostly posting just to see if anyone's heard of the service and knows anything more about it. It seems rather interesting. The only thing I've really been able to find on it is an article about installing the systems into the hospital my grandmother was staying at http://www.hoise.com...VM-10-02-7.html
