Well i just got Knoppix STD, booted from the cd perfectly, installed it on the comp, Its a really good distro. Thanks for RFA, cause of them decided to get it and it was worth it.

I love my Slackware box. If you have an extra computer then Knoppix is well worth it. Knoppix is the greatest rescue CD as well.

im a slackware slut, lol, i use knoppix realtively often though. im also surprised as to how bland hasn't shown up in this thread yet

I used STD as a live distro a little when it came out, but now ive just transfered the STD tools to my main knoppix box

knoppix is great.

imagine going to office depot and sticking knoppix std into one of the laptops, then get a sales rep and be like:
damn, you guys sell laptops with linux AND password crackers?! w00t!!!!!

Yes slackware is great. I also like Debian and FreeBSD....too bad there isn't a Linux distribution that combines all three...oh wait there is.

I am using it on my p2 333Mhz Computer but runs OK. I was using Slackware 9.0 but i decided to try Knoppix = ) I am new to Linux and looks great

It's a cool distro. It gets a 2x coolness mod for being a bootable CD. However, the orinoco drivers in the current release are bad. Can't do wifi stuff.

I don't get people's obsession with Slackware. It is a distro that tries to be as much as Unix as possible, yes? Why not just use a Unix distro? They are better coded (more stable, etc). Am I missing something?

My first distro was slackware.. I remember to this day my asking what was the easyest to learn and the ops on the irc chan, almost all at once, said 'slackware'...
