Have you tried scanpst.exe? I think it comes with any outlook install. Its been successful a few times in dealing with corrupt .pst files for me.

If you mean account passwords then you're out of luck. Outlook doesn't store any account settings in the PST file at all (A complete pain when you want to move them to another machine).

The password would have been set by the person that created that archive in outlook or exported folders from the outlook tree into a .pst. I am not aware of any ways to crack the encryption but outlook as 3 different ways it stores .pst's

* 1 no encryption. best compression
* 2 some encryption (or weak). Moderate compression
* 3 Best encryption (strong) No Compression

If there is a way to break it I assume it would be a commercial product.

Yes, i advise you program work in this current - pst password recovery. Also it might recovers passwords for password-protected Microsoft Outlook data files (files with the *.pst extension) that the Microsoft Outlook mail client uses to store user data (contacts, messages, reminders, notes, tasks), restore forgotten or lost passwords for *.pst files created in various versions of the Microsoft Outlook mail client: Microsoft Outlook 97 - Microsoft Outlook 2002 and Microsoft Outlook 2003.

The two best recover developers of course have the answers:
Elcomsoft Advanced Outlook Password Recovery
Passware Outlook Key

There is also a free solution as well, PstPassword from nirsoft, gotta love nirsoft.

Hi Enigma,
It is true that password is very important thing and it helps you to avoid un-authorized access to your personal and confedential informations. But when you forget or lost that password then, you are in a big trouble. As PST file is very valuable file, so its protection is must.

But, what if you loose or forget its password or your PST file gets corrupted. Either you have to take any precaution or you need to take measures after you loose your PST password. As a precaution you can backup your PST file using PST Backup software, which will help you to restore the PST password once you loose it and as a post measure you can use PST Password Recovery software to retrieve the lost or forgotten password.

I hope this suggestion witll help you out.

Thank You.

Today I installed a new email program. When I imported all data from the old program to the new program something must have happened... And all my data was damaged,I was disappeared. Accidentaly called me up a friend and advised me - convert .pst file. To my surprise the program solved my issue for seconds and without payment. Besides it learnt me retrieve either separate files with *.vcf, *.txt and *.eml extensions or convert them into a file of PST format, that can be forwarded to any other PC within your local network...
