I was looking at the description of Kevins Mitnicks new book on Amazon. This is a part from one of them.

From Publishers Weekly:
Mitnick is the most famous computer hacker in the world. Since his first arrest in 1981, at age 17, he has spent nearly half his adult life either in prison or as a fugitive. He has been the subject of three books and his alleged 1982 hack into NORAD inspired the movie War Games...

Is this true? I had no idea the movie was based on Mitnick.

Yeah, the reports were completely false. As you know, Mitnick never hacked into NORAD. But the stories/rumors/lies were running rampant and supposedly inspired a writer to create the screenplay for wargames.

So that much is true. :)

now here is what is fukked up about the internet sometimes...

When I saw that comments, I thought to myself "NO WAY!" and starting combing the net for validation. I found equally as many sites tat CONFIRMED the report as I did sites thet DENIED the report. Hell, I didn't know what to believe! I still don't! Maybe I will post over at Mitnicks site/board and get the straight scoop.

In the "Fugitive game." --john littman (i think) he was the author that mitnick talked to while on the run. And, if i remember correctly, I think it was mitnicks buddy at that time that hacked into NORAD, using mitnicks handle.

I was checking out 2600's main page today when I found the following:
Mitnick "Banned Chapter" appears on Internet Discussion Group.
I think you will find Mitnick's banned chapter (of his life) very enlightning.

I've already downloaded it and its quite informative. :P

the "banned" chapter is just the un-abridged version of chapter 1. but dont discount it because of that. it is some soild facts on what happened when kevin was on the run. straight from the hacker's mouth.
