this is not really for getting into it, well kinda.

What version of citrix server are you running, also what version of the client are running? I have a little experience with this, and I know you need to set up a farm with citrix server and then publish applications for users. The users have a to have a client version that is current to access the metaframe.

I have the farm running and the applications (testing right now with remote desktop). it's version XP FR3. the clients are the latest version from the Citrix website. I can conencted just fin from the LAN but if I try at work or have someone else try, they cannot get it. I have port 1494 forwarded to the Server 2003 box where Citrix is installed.
So I assume you are running this setup in your person set up at home? If so, one thing to look at is to make sure that your ISP is not filtering ports that the citrix server might need to use. Even though, it might initially connect on 1494, it might need to establish connections on other ports with the incoming client, and that could be a potential problem. I am not familiar with the architecture of the whole citrix server, so that is something you are going to have to figure out, and make sure all the necessary ports are available through your home setup and your ISP. Good luck!

thanks man, I worked hard on that hands-free phone. the key is to find the right "head-adapter" that doesn't cut of the circulation to the head while you're driving. the only problem is trying to redial.

Are you getting any sort of error message or stuck at a certain point in the log in sequence?
nope...it just fails to connect. to give you more info...the Citrix server is running on Windows Server 2003 installed on VMWare. everything works like it should internally but once I try from work it won't conenct.
I suspect that my router (well, both I tried; one Belkin and one Linksys) do not handle the 47 Protocol traffic correctly.

Im still not quite sure where in the connection you are having a problem but I have had connection problems also. If you are able to log on to the server and enter the management console and select your server in the servers folder. Check to make sure that you(or whatever user youre trying to log in as) doesnt have a previous session still connected or listed. Just a though that some times is a problem for me.

I was wrong about this. not sure what I was thinking about. this protocol (I don't think) is not for Citrix but rather regular VPN.

I CAN connect from the inside but NOT from the outside. everything works fine at home but once I get to work, I cannot connect and neither can a friend.

That would go back to what I told earlier about checking to make sure that your ISP is not filtering that particular port. Most ISPs DO NOT like you running any type of server services, unless you pay the premium price to them. So naturally they will either disabled those ports or disabled them all together from the outside. You could try to use a linux server and use IPTABLES to route your traffic. I am not sure if you can change the communication port for citrix on a client side, but if you can, change that and let IPTABLES route it to the proper server. The only thing to watch out for is to make sure that the port you use is not a common port for regular services. Other than that type of a scenario, that's about all of the info I can offer. Good Luck!

Is it using UDP? Do you have an NFuse gateway?
I think it is TCP only. no gateway, just the DSL/cable router. as I've said in the past, I can get in locally but when at work I can't. as far as I can tell, my ISP is not blocking any port other then 80.
Well depending on the port scanner that you used, make sure they are not filtered. Blocking and filtering are two different things. If they are not blocked, that does not mean they cannot be filter (aka blocked) by your ISP. I would verify that because it seems very odd that you can hit the internal networn and nothing from the outside. Basically you have one of two choices - either you need to configure you Cable Modem/DSL router properly (if it is capable of handling this traffic) or you need to verify that the ISP is not filtering the services you need. Also again, make sure you check EXACTLY what ports Citrix uses and make sure it doesn't create a temporary connection port on other ports. Good luck!

Yo, what exactly is Citrix used for? Ive seen it on alot of cellular providers desktops when conducting contractors and signing up a customer for service. Is it some type of information/database server client? ( Searching google )
Citrix is essentially used for "secure" remote access. It's based on ICA, a protocol similar to the Microsoft Terminal Services Remote Desktop Protocol. It tries to enforce stringent security policies. (*shitting* on google)
BinRev is hosted by the great people at Lunarpages!
