Telephreak, on the other hand, has a few users. Granted, there are a few newbies on there but at least its someone to talk to. So I idle there now.

The whole thing about conferences though is that someone has to sit in there as the only person. If everyone left when they were the only person in there, conferences wouldn't exist!

as much as I know that's true, I just can't bring my self to idle in a conf for more than a few minutes. I wish people would just call me so I didn't have to go out and find strangers to talk to people.
/me goes to find some friends
/me fails

I totally understand it sucks holding a handset to your head for a long time frame and to top everything off your not even talking to anyone.

My speakerphone of choice these days is the Cisco 7960. People tell me it doesn't even sound like I'm on a speakerphone.

I don't know about other bridge regulars but I don't mind noobs as long as they
1) Don't pretend to know what they don't
2) Put their phone on mute when it gets noisy
3) Don't switch the topic in the middle of a discussion about something else
You can expect some of that to happen in a public bridge though (Bellsmind 666, Telephreak 2)
IMO, the more the merrier on those bridges.
