i was thinking of an idea for a box of some sorts for the past bit.
it's a box that "cuts off" the ring and tip wires of your beige box if someone picks up an extention.. perhaps saving one from fumbling around for the mute button?
i was thinking it might be based off of one of those "in use" lights, if i really get ambitious this weekend i may try to rig something up. i'd have to start off with some testing to see what happens to the lines when an extention is taken off hook, and take it from there. any ideas/hits/suggestions?
A box idea

Or one could just put a single pole switch in series with the electret mic in the phone. In effect cutting
off the mouthpiece.
off the mouthpiece.

The nice thing about the stealthbox is its automatic.. uses the change of the lines power ratings to switch it off when a extension is picked up.
The idea is it saves you the trouble of a switch..and has no moving parts.
