Grey hat python

I was browsing progenic.com's top sites and I came across a forum with references to different books out there. I obtained a copy of Grey Hat Python, which was mentioned in a section of the forum. This book teaches reverse engineering techniques through the use of Python and ctypes. You get to build your own debugger from scratch that can dynamically gather information about processes and threads, and manipulate memory by injecting shellcode to create/kill/attach to a process, or even to spawn a reverse shell. The information is precise, concise, and straightforward. If you are new to this avenue; check it out. It is worth your time.

There's another book that goes well with this. For more in depth information on debugging and anti-debugging consult this piece of literature.

8Bit Underground Blog/Forums

Greetings..

Just wanted to post a link (hopefully in the appropriate section) to my forum/blog which unfortunately is much smaller than BINREV, but I think we have a lot of common subject matter.

The 8-Bit Underground is all about the discussion of the 80's underground scene as witnessed from machines such as Atari, Commodore, Apple // series, TI994a, Sinclair, etc...

The subject matter is wardialers, code scanners, AE, Cat Fur, Phone Man, CNET, SprintNet/Telenet, Tymnet, Bridges, Loops, crack screens, atascii and petscii animations, etc..

I am working on building a database of the apps listed above for the various 8 and 16 bit platforms..

So if you were hanging out in the underground (even if it was just warez) during the period where an upgrade from 300 to 1200 baud was considered "elite" - and your computer displayed text in 40 columns, you will most likely fit in..

Anyway - I'm trying to build this, so don't expect 1000's of posts - but if you're into the subject, it might be a nice home.

blog: http://blog.8bitunderground.com
forum: http://www.8bitunderground.com

Hope to see you around.. Downloads and app reviews will begin very soon.

Dumping Data From RAM

Hey guys,

I wrote a new article for my site. I hope you people find in helpful. Feedback is appreciated.

Intro:
When I played the game Fallout 3, I often enjoyed playing the hacking mini-game within it. While drifting through the wastelands your character often discovers functional computers. Your character types a series of commands and performs a data dump to discover passwords. I think this mini game is clever, entertaining and fairly accurate.
What you do is enter your email address into a field and you get a small url in place of it.
I bought a COWON X5 about a year ago and never used it, I thought it was too heavy to carry around compared to my little $10 MP3 player. If you don't know about the X5, It is 30GIG and plays all file formats like FLACK,OGG, and APE and video. It has a built in microphone and radio function. This is like new! I always keep my electronics in the case and it has no nicks or scratches. This sounds way better than an iPod. I am also giving you my case and headphones.
